This colorful neighborhood is home to many species of tropical fish, including the Cortez wrasse, scrawled filefish and Cortez angelfish. In the wild, coral reefs are among the most diverse and valuable ecosystems on Earth. Healthy reefs protect nearby shorelines and wetlands, and are home to thousands of species of fishes and corals.
See the Aquarium in a whole new light with extended summer hours until 8 p.m. on select weekend dates. Linger at your favorite exhibits after the crowds have gone, and enjoy wine, live music and sustainable bites.
The clownfish lives amid the stinging tentacles of a sea anemone. Most fishes are paralyzed by the sting of an anemone, but this colorful swimmer develops a layer of mucus that protects it.
