Love Ocean Animals? Support Our Animal Care Center

We're expanding our Animal Care Center to better meet the needs of ocean animals at the Aquarium and in the wild.

Giant kelp provides food and shelter for a vibrant ecosystem.

Look closely and you'll discover an astonishing diversity of fish and invertebrates swimming in our Kelp Forest exhibit and clinging to the kelp and algae.

Listen to live audio of our Kelp Forest feeding program and watch divers hand-feed sharks, fishes and other animals. If you're lucky, a wolf-eel will emerge to gulp some squid or fish.

Two Silver Fish, But Which Is Which?

We recently added 4,600 anchovies and sardines to our Kelp Forest. How do you tell these shimmering schools apart? A sardine school tends to move in darting motions, while a school of anchovies will form a vertical funnel or swirl.

Protect Our Coasts from Offshore Oil Drilling

The federal Administration has released a plan to open nearly all U.S. ocean waters, including six areas off California, to oil and gas drilling. Offshore oil drilling in sensitive coastal waters puts coastal economies, jobs and animals at unnecessary risk. Join us in speaking out to protect America's coastal waters.
